St. Johns Church (Finchingfield)
St. Johns is the parish church of the picturesque and much loved Essex village of Finchingfield, the most photographed in England.
The church has a Norman tower, added to by a little18th century cupola on top.
Much of the building dates from the 13th and 14th centuries, including a fine chancel arch and a clerestory.
There is a highly laborate rood screen, and an octagonal font.
The churchyard is entered through a gateway in the former Guildhall, which dates from around 1500.
St. Johns is an integral part of the village scene which appears on countless calendars, chocolate boxes and jigsaw puzzles.
