Custom House (Exeter)

The Custom House is an imposing building in the ancient cathedral city of Exeter.

It stands on the waterfront, giving an idea of the former importance of Exeter as a maritime city.

Erected in 1681, it was built of brick, one of the first such buildings in the city.

Two cannon outside came from a batch which were impounded in 1819 for non payment of dues.
