Heart of Midlothian (Edinburgh)
The Heart of Midlothian is an unusual feature of the Royal Mile in the historic city of Edinburgh.
In the High Street, outside St. Giles` Cathedral, is a heart shaped design picked out in the cobblestones, marking the site of the Old Tolbooth Prison.
Over the centuries this has become known as the Heart of Midlothian.
Sir Walter Scott wrote a novel of the same name, and one of the most famous of the Scottish football teams is Heart of Midlothian, usually shortened to Hearts.
