Edinburgh Castle (Edinburgh)
Edinburgh Castle is a very historic building in Edinburgh, and one of the most recognised buildings in Britain.
It is situated on Castlehill, on top of the rock overlooking Princes Street in the city centre.
The oldest part of the structure dates from the 12th century.
The castle is home to the Scottish crown jewels, the Stone of Destiny and the cannon known as Mons Meg. Also in the castle are St. Margaret`s Chapel, the Great Hall and the Scottish National War Memorial.
The famous Royal Mile runs from the castle to Holyroodhouse.
The world famous annual military tattoo takes place on the castle`s parade ground.
