Dunster Castle (Dunster)

Dunster Castle is a historic castle at Dunster in Somerset.

There is a glorious view of the castle from the main road between Bridgwater and Minehead.

The castle site, a natural tor, was chosen by the de Mohun family, Earls of Devon, for their stronghold, and it was sold in 1376 to the Luttrells. It was slighted during the Civil War in the 17th century, and rebuilt in 1868 to be the Victorian image of a romantic castle.

At the foot of the castle runs the picturesque High Street.

Dunster Castle is now in the hands of the National Trust.
