Hollytrees (Colchester)
Hollytrees is an excellent museum of bygones in the fabulously ancient town of Colchester in Essex.
It stands at the Eastern end of the High Street, just before North Hill starts dropping steeply down to the River Colne. Its much better known neighbour is Colchester Castle.
Hollytrees was built in 1716, and is a three storey town house constructed of red brick.
In the house's early days, its garden encompassed the castle grounds, including the castle itself.
