Colchester Town Station (Colchester)

Colchester Town is one of two railway stations serving the ancient Essex town of Colchester, the other being Colchester North Station.

Until recently, the station was known as St. Botolph's, because of its proximity to the impressive ruins of St. Botolphs Priory.

Whereas Colchester North is on the outskirts of the town, Colchester Town is much more central.

Trains run from Colchester North on a steeply curving line through the town, reversing here and running downhill to Hythe (Essex), Clacton and Walton-on-the-Naze.
