Castle Acre Priory (Castle Acre)

Castle Acre Priory is an impressive ruin in the historic Norfolk village of Castle Acre.

It is situated at Stocks Green, on the edge of the village.

It was a Cluniac priory, founded in the 11th century by William de Warenne, the son of the founder of Castle Acre Castle.

Surviving parts of the priory include the spectacular West Front, prior`s lodgings and chapel.

There is a recreated mediaeval herb garden.

The priory is now in the care of English Heritage.
