Lygon Arms (Broadway)
The Lygon Arms is a historic house in Broadway, built of the characteristic local stone.
It is situated in the High Street.
Originally a farmhouse, it contains fragments of a 14th century house, and was the White Hart in 1532.
The Trevis family gave it a modern front in 1620, and it was stayed in by both Charles I and Oliver Cromwell during the Civil War.
The house was acquired as a hotel by General Lygon, who served under Wellington, about 1815. His butler, who became the hotel manager, changed its name to Lygon Arms.
