St. Peter`s Church (Bournemouth)

St. Peter`s Church is one of the main churches in the Dorset seaside resort of Bournemouth.

It stands on the foundations of an earlier church built in the 1840s, and has a tall tower.

The existing church was started in 1854, and took 25 years to build.

The general style of the interior is Gothic, mostly by G. E. Street, while G. F. Bodley contributed choir stalls.

William Ewart Gladstone worshipped for the last time here in 1898.

The novelist Mary Shelley is buried in the churchyard, together with the heart of her husband Percy Bysshe Shelley.
