Blackpool Casino (Blackpool)

Blackpool Casino is one of the interesting buildings by the sea at Blackpool.

It was opened at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in 1939, replacing an earlier casino demolished in 1937.

It sits on a reinforced concrete base which in turn rests on the sandy topsoil.

The reinforced concrete structure was designed in the Modernist style by Joseph Emberton and made by The Trussed Concrete and Steel Company. The facing panels were constructed in the Netherlands and transported across to Blackpool by barge.

Emberton included a spiral stair tower, to suggest the thrills to be found in the amusement park. The banqueting hall could seat a thousand people.
