Barnstaple Station (Barnstaple)

Barnstaple Station is the railway station that serves the old North Devon town of Barnstaple.

The railway arrived here in 1854.

Barnstaple is the terminus of a long and picturesque branch line from Exeter.

Trains from Exeter come via Crediton, Copplestone, Eggesford and Umberleigh.

There was formerly another station named Barnstaple Town, which closed in 1970.

Several other lines, all now closed, met at Barnstaple.

One line went to Braunton and Ilfracombe.

Another ran to Pilton, Bratton Fleming and Lynton and Lynmouth.

Yet another went to Swimbridge, South Molton, Dulverton and Taunton.

One more line ran to Bideford, Torrington and Okehampton.
