Amberley Castle (Amberley)
Amberley Castle is a surviving castle in the Sussex village of Amberley.
It was originally a 12th century manor house belonging to the Bishops of Chichester, one of whom, Bishop Rede, obtained a licence to crenellate from Richard II in 1377.
This resulted in high walls, a great hall and a gatehouse.
Today the castle is in use as a hotel.
