St. Peter and St. Paul Church (Aldeburgh)

St. Peter and St. Paul is the parish church of the little seaside town of Aldeburgh in Suffolk.

It stands on a hill, overlooking the sea. Most of the structure is 17th century, but the tower is 14th century.

The splendid Benjamin Britten Memorial Window was designed by John Piper and dedicated in 1980. It depicts theree of Britten`s best known operas.

There is a bust to the poet and clergyman Gorge Crabbe.

Benjamin Britten and his partner, the singer Peter Pears, are buried in the churchyard extension, and nearby is their friend Imogen Holst.

There is a large memorial to the men of the Aldeburgh lifeboat, seven of whom drowned in action in 1899.
