Westward Ho!
Westward Ho! is a village on the North Devon coast, 2 miles from Bideford. It is the only settlement in Britain whose name ends with an exclamation mark.
The name comes from Charles Kingsley`s adventure novel "Westward Ho!", which he wrote at Bideford. The book popularised this part of the coast, and led to the village`s development from the 1870s.
Rudyard Kipling`s "Stalky and Co" is set here.
The famous Pebble Ridge is 2 miles long and 20 feet high.
