Watchet
Watchet is a little port in Somerset, on the Bristol Channel and 15 miles from Bridgwater. It has been a port since the Saxon period and was much raided by the Vikings.
St. Decuman`s Church, dating from the 15th century and with a fine tower, is a mile inland. Nearby is St. Decuman`s Well.
Beside the quay is a statue representing the Ancient Mariner. Coleridge was inspired to write the poem here.
The Victorian market house houses a museum and a tiny chapel.
The restored West Somerset Railway has a station at Watchet.
