Walton-on-the-Naze

Walton-on-the-Naze is a pleasant seaside resort in North East Essex, 7 miles from Clacton.

It developed as a bathing resort from the 1820s.

Walton-on-the-Naze Pier is the second longest in the world, shorter only than the one at Southend.

There is a Martello Tower on the seafront, and The Naze Tower was originally built as a beacon in 1720.

The Naze is a nearby headland with a popular grassy area above 70 foot cliffs, with plenty of fossils. Behind The Naze is an unusual land of lakes and inlets, known as Walton Backwaters, much used for sailing.

Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Walton-on-the-Naze for groups.
