Thurso
Thurso is a town in Caithness in the far North of Scotland, overlooking Thurso Bay and 18 miles from Wick.
It is the most Northerly town on the mainland of Britain, and not far from Dunnet Head, the Northernmost point.
Thurso was a Norse settlement which developed during the Middle Ages into a fishing and trading town. There was considerable expansion in the 18th century.
Old St. Peter`s Kirk dates partly from the 12th century, but is now in ruins.
The Battle of Thurso was fought in 1040.
