Thornton-le-Dale
Thornton-le-Dale (sometimes known as Thornton Dale) is an attractive village in North Yorkshire, 3 miles from Pickering.
On the village green stand a market cross and stocks, as well as some venerable trees.
All Saints Church, on the edge of the village, was rebuilt in the 14th century, and the font was made about 1200.
The almshouses were built in the 17th century, and Thornton Hall has 16th century parts.
The pretty Thornton Beck flows through the village, crossed by a number of little bridges.
