Thetford Forest
Thetford Forest is an extensive wooded area, mostly in Norfolk but straying a little into Suffolk.
The Forest Park extends for 50,000 acres, and in the same area is the sandy Breckland, similar to parts of Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire.
Within the forest are the famous prehistoric Grimes Graves, an early industrial centre making weapons and tools from flint.
The mediaeval Thetford Warren Lodge is another interesting survival.
On the edge of the forest are Brandon, and the very historic former cathedral city of Thetford.
To the South are Elveden and The King's Forest, towards Bury St. Edmunds.
