Prescot
Prescot is an old market town in Merseyside (formerly Lancashire), 4 miles from St. Helens.
The town retains much of its mediaeval street pattern, and there are Georgian houses in the Market Place.
The Church of Our Lady was rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries, and has a tower and spire by Nicholas Hawksmoor.
Prescot became famous for production of cable, and was previously important in the clock and watch making industry.
The celebrated actor John Philip Kemble was born at Prescot.
