Poole
Poole is a town and seaport in Dorset, 4 miles from Bournemouth and on Poole Harbour.
A port since the Middle Ages, it is now an important setting off point for ships travelling to the Channel Islands.
St. James`s Church was built in 1820.
Among the fine buildings in the old town are the Custom House, built in 1813, the 1761 Guildhall, and a 15th century warehouse which now houses the Waterfront Museum.
Poole Pottery is situated on the quay.
Nearby are the well known gardens of Compton Acres.
Poole Harbour is the largest natural harbour in Britain.
The novelist John le Carre was born at Poole.
