Milton Keynes
Milton Keynes is a New Town, or more properly New City, in Buckinghamshire, to the North West of London.
It was started in the 1960s and was designed primarily with the needs of motorists in mind. However, there are now good bus services between the centre and the various satellite towns.
Milton Keynes has spread over the years and engulfed several old towns, including Bletchley, Newport Pagnell, Stony Stratford and Wolverton.
There is a very impressive indoor shopping centre, known as the centre:mk.
The Open University established its headquarters in Milton Keynes in 1971, while the most famous aspect visually must be the concrete cows placed in a field in 1978.
In 2004, Wimbledon Football Club moved to Milton Keynes and changed its name to MK Dons.
