Laugharne

Laugharne is a small town in South West Wales, 8 miles from Carmarthen, on the beautiful Taf estuary.

It is pronounced "Larne".

Laugharne was the home of Dylan Thomas, who lived at the Boathouse, which is now a museum dedicated to his life and his work. He is buried in the churchyard of 14th century St. Martin`s Church.

The little town was the inspiration for "Under Milk Wood", where it is known, with Thomas`s backward humour Llareggub.

Mediaeval Laugharne Castle stands impressively guarding the estuary. It is now in the care of Cadw.
