Kirkharle
Kirkharle is a hamlet in Northumberland, 2 miles from Kirkwhelpington.
It is beside a stream which is a tributary of the River Wansbeck.
Lancelot "Capability" Brown was born here in 1716. He was baptised in the attractive little St. Wilfrid`s Church, which was rebuilt in the 154th century.
The farm where he worked in his youth now has craft workshops, shops and a tea room.
A stone monument is to Robert Loraine, who died at the hands of Scots raiders in 1483.
