Kingswear
Kingswear is a village on the heavily wooded shore of the River Dart in South Devon, close to the river mouth and 4 miles from Brixham.
It is picturesquely situated opposite Dartmouth, to which ferries, both passenger and car, run frequently.
The houses rise steeply from the shore, and among them is the 13th century St. Thomas` Church.
Kingswear is the terminus of the steam line known as the Paignton and Dartmouth Railway.
Kingswear Castle was built in the Tudor period, and stands opposite Dartmouth Castle. In times of war, a chain was stretched between the two.
Coleton Fishacre Gardens are in the care of the National Trust.
