Kersey
Kersey is an outstandingly pretty village in Suffolk, two miles from the ancient town of Hadleigh.
The village gained its prosperity in the Middle Ages from Kersey cloth, and there is a surviving row of weavers’ cottages.
The magnificent St. Mary’s church, with its flint tower, stands on a hill, and the village proper is on a neighbouring hill. Between them, in the village street, is a shallow watersplash.
The houses are timber framed, and many are colour washed in the Essex and Suffolk tradition.
