Hemel Hempstead
Hemel Hempstead is an old market town in Hertfordshire, 7 miles from Watford.
It is situated on the River Gade and close to the Grand Union Canal, amongst the Chiltern Hills.
Since the 1940s, a New Town has been added.
St. Mary`s Church dates back to the Norman period, and has a spire rising to 200 feet.
There are some atractive cottages, dating from the 16th century and later, in the High Street.
Henry`s Banqueting Hall was built in the mid 16th century.
