Easby

Easby is a hamlet in Yorkshire, 1 mile from Richmond.

Easby Abbey is a beautiful ruin, in a lovely setting beside the River Swale. It was founded in 1155 for Premonstratensian canons.

St. Agatha's Church dates from an earlier period, and contains outstanding frescoes of Biblical scenes, as well as a Norman font.

There is also the cast of a 9th century cross, the original now being in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
