Earls Barton
Earls Barton is a small town in Northamptonshire, 4 miles from Wellingborough.
The prefix is from the Earls of Huntingdon and Northampton, whose home is Castle Ashby across the River Nene.
All Saints Church has a superb late Anglo-Saxon tower, one of the finest in England, and Norman work in the chancel.
Beside the church, a massive mound represents a 10th century Anglo-Saxon burgh, later used for a Norman castle. The church tower was very likely part of the defences.
Jeyes Chemist and Museum has excellent collections relating to the famous family business, models and local history.
Earls Barton is famed for high class boot and shoe making. The Barkers factory still operates.
