Colne Engaine
Colne Engaine is a village in North Essex, close to Halstead and beside the River Colne.
It is one of a cluster of villages which include the word Colne. The others are Earls Colne, Wakes Colne and White Colne.
"Engaine" is the name of the family which owned the land in the 13th and 14th centuries. The emphasis is on the second syllable.
St. Andrew`s Church is Norman, with 14th century windows. The brick tower is of Tudor date.
Colne Park is an 18th century house.
