Clipsham

Clipsham is a small village in Rutland, 7 miles from Stamford.

St. Mary's Church has a 14th century broach spire.

The village is best known for its wonderful Topiary Avenue. Yews are clipped into birds and animals, forming an avenue leading to the 18th century Clipsham Hall.

Clipsham Quarries have been worked since the 13th century. Stone from here has been used at Ely Cathedral, Peterborough Cathedral and several colleges at Oxford, in addition to the rebuilding of the House of Commons in London after bomb damage in the Second World War.
