Buckden

Buckden is a small town in Cambridgeshire,4 miles from Huntingdon.

St. Mary`s church has a fine spire, and is where Laurence Sterne was ordained in 1736.

Buckden Palace, with its imposing brick towers, was built for the Bishops of Lincoln in the 15th century. Catherine of Aragon was imprisoned there for a while.

Buckden stood on the Great North Road, and among its surviving inns are the George and the Lion.
