Blists Hill
Blists Hill is a well known place in Shropshire, and is part of Telford New town.
It is situated above the Ironbridge Gorge, through which the River Severn runs. Now very beautiful, the gorge would have been anything but at the time of the Industrial Revolution, which to a large extent began in the area.
Blists Hill today is an open air museum, designed to show how local people lived and worked in the 19th century. It is one of the Ironbridge Museums.
There is also an inclined plane, which allowed boats to move between the Severn and the canal at the top of the hill.
