Bishops Lydeard

Bishops Lydeard is a village in Somerset, 5 miles from Taunton. It was one of the estates of the Bishops of Winchester.

The parish church has one of the best Somerset towers, dating from the 15th century and constructed of red sandstone. In the churchyard is a 14th century cross.

A tall wall in the village was used for the game of Fives.

Bishops Lydeard is the terminus of the preserved West Somerset Railway.
