Somerset Tour (A Coach Trip in Somerset)

"Somerset Tour" is one of the popular Coach Trips devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.

These trips are a very enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.

This is a tour around the lovely, and in parts mystical, county of Somerset, taking in the Mendip Hills, the Somerset Levels which were once an inland sea, and the seaside beside the Bristol Channel.

The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester City Centre at 8am, returning about 9pm.

Colin gives his customary commentary along the way, bringing to life the fascinating and historic sights and places encountered en route. This is one of the aspects that make Colin`s excursions quite unique.

There are three stops, each of about an hour.

Wells is a tiny cathedral city and market town, where the cathedral has a brilliant West Front and the Bishops Palace has a timeless beauty.

Glastonbury is according to legend a place visited by Jesus himself, and where Joseph of Arimathea brought the Holy Grail, and where Arthur and Guinevere were said to have been buried.

Weston-super-Mare is a splendid seaside resort, with vies across to South Wales.

And as if all that were not enough, the route takes in the spectacular Cheddar Gorge.
