Snowdon Mountain Railway (A Coach Trip in Snowdonia)
"Snowdon Mouintain Railway" is one of the very popular Coach Trips devised and led by the well kown Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These excursions are a very enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.
Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales, and higher than any mountain in England.
The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station, in the centre of Leicester, at 8am and is due back approximately 9pm.
Colin gives his customary commentary along the way, bringing to life the many interesting towns and villages along the route, in a way that makes his excursions truly unique.
The coach will be travelling into North Wales and eventually into the mountainous land known as Snowdonia, then through passes in the foothills of Snowdon, before arriving at the little town of Llanberis.
The highlight of the trip is a ride on the rack and pinion Snowdon Mountain Railway, which climbs from Llanberis virtually to the summit, giving spectacular views across Wales and the Irish Sea.
In the event of very inclement weather, the train may not quite reach the very summit, but this is quite rare.
For those who are anxious for refreshments, there is a cafe at the summit, and there should be time available in Llanberis.
