Severn Valley Tour (A Coach Trip in Shropshire)
"Severn Valley Tour" is one of the very popular Coach Trips devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These excursions are a most enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.
This is a tour around the picturesque valley of the River Severn, the longest river in Britain.
The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in the city centre of Leicester at 8am, and is due back about 9pm.
Colin gives his customary commentary along the way, pointing out places of interest and interpreting their background and heritage in a way that makes his excursions quite unique.
There are three stops on the tour, each of about an hour.
Shrewsbury is one of the outstanding towns of England, almost encircled by the Severn and with a superb skyline and a fine collection of back and white timber framed buildings.
Worcester is an ancient cathedral city, with a statue of composer Edward Elgar, a local man. It is known as "the Faithful City" because of its loyalty to the Stuarts during the Civil War.
Tewkesbury, with its brilliant Abbey and spectacular black and white houses, is where the Severn is joined by the lovely River Avon.
