Rayleigh (A Guided Walk in Rayleigh)
"Rayleigh" is one of the very popular Guided Walks devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours, who originally comes from this part of Essex.
These strolls are a most enjoyable way to soak up some Local History.
The starting point is Holy Trinity Church, the parish church of Rayleigh, at the top of the High Street.
Colin leads participants on a gentle walk around the town centre, pointing out many items of interest, including the famous Martyrs Memorial, before walking down Crown Hill and viewing the Dutch Cottage.
The route then leads into Rayleigh Mount, the site of the pre-conquest motte and bailey castle, with its extensive views over the valley of the River Crouch.
During the walk, Colin discusses aspects of Rayleigh`s history.
