Newark (A Guided Walk in Newark)
"Newark" is one of the many Guided Walks devised and led by the well known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These strolls are a very good way of soaking up some Local History.
The starting point for this walk around Newark is the Gilstrap Centre, close to the historic Newark Castle.
During the walk, Colin discusses the history of this old market town, which grew up at the strategic point where the Fosse Way crossed the Great North Road and the River Trent.
The route includes the ruins of the imposing castle, where King John died at the height of a thunderstorm, the enormous Market Place and a stroll beside the river.
