Heart of England Tour (A Coach Trip in Warwickshire)
The “Heart of England Tour” is one of the Coach Trips devised and led by the Leicester-based Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These excursions are an enjoyable way to soak up some Local History.
This trip takes place on a Sunday afternoon. Colin organises a few trips with that sort of timing, partly because many people do something else on a Sunday morning (notably going to church) and partly because public transport into Leicester on a Sunday morning leaves quite a bit to be desired.
The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in the City Centre at 1pm, and is expected back about 8pm.
The tour takes in some of the lovely countryside and historic towns in William Shakespeare’s county, Warwickshire, with its famous River Avon.
There is a stop for a couple of hours at Old Kenilworth. This picturesque town contains the largest castle ruins in England. Kenilworth Castle is associated with three famous Earls of Leicester – John of Gaunt, Simon de Montfort and Robert Dudley.
Old Kenilworth also has Abbey ruins, in a delightful waterside setting, a splendid parish church and a very pretty main street.
