Hamilton Ancient and Modern (A Guided Walk in Hamilton)
"Hamilton Ancient and Modern" is a fascinating Guided walk devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours, giving the chance to see the famous mediaeval deserted village of Hamilton.
These strolls are an enjoyable way to soak up some Local History.
The starting point is outside Tesco, the modern superstore off Maidenwell Avenue on the new Hamilton housing estate on the edge of Leicester, started in the 1980s.
The walk starts and finishes on the housing estate, but incorporates footpaths and bridleways to cross the deserted village site, with its clearly defined streets and the platforms on which the cottages sat.
