Tour Around Elgar`s England
I recently went as a passenger on another of the Coach Trips run by Woods Coaches of Leicester.
This is the company from whom I hire coaches for my own excursions, so I know them to be a good outfit - and anyway, I enjoy visiting places, whether or not I have organised the trip!
This tour was entitled "Elgar`s England", and of course it was around the West Midlands area which was an inspiration to this fine composer.
Having left St. Margarets Bus Station, we proceeded Westwards and made a morning stop at Stratford-upon-Avon.
Then it was on through the cathedral city of Worcester and close to Elgar`s birthplace at Lower Broadheath, before arriving at the splendid market town of Ledbury.
I had a good look around this very pleasant town, including the parish church and a house with a painted upper room, and had coffee and teacake at an excellent teashop named Mr Muffins.
We then went on to Stow-on-the-Wold. Here again I visited the church, and had coffee and a scone at one of my favourite teashops, the Old Bakery.
Once again, I had a very nice day.
