Three Favourite Towns in the North
I recently went on a Coach Trip with Woods Coaches – yes, as a passenger! It’s good to sometimes just sit back and enjoy the trip with somebody else taking the responsibility.
This time it was to three of my favourite towns in the North of England.
First of all we went to Richmond in Yorkshire. This smashing town on the fast-flowing River Swale has a famous castle and cobbled Market Place. I’m organising my own trip to Richmond in March, including a Guided Walk.
Then it was off to Durham. This historic cathedral city is built on a peninsula almost surrounded by the River Wear, from which there are dramatic views of the cathedral. I have taken a trip to Durham, with a Guided Walk, and probably will do again.
Finally, Hexham. I did Hexham earlier this year, with a Guided Walk, of course. I like Hexham very much, and historically it is an intriguing mixture of sanctity and violence.
So you probably get the idea – I had a good time!
