Tate Modern Tops London Attractions Chart
Tate Modern, the amazing art gallery on Bankside beside the River Thames in London, is Number One in the latest list of the capital's visitor attractions in terms of numbers of visitors.
Situated beside the Millennium Bridge, the gallery is a former power station designed by Giles Gilbert Scott. It keeps the long established favourite, the British Museum, off the Number One spot.
The Top Ten are
1. Tate Modern
2. British Museum
4. Natural History Museum
5. London Eye
6. Science Museum
7. Victoria and Albert Museum
10. National Portrait Gallery
It is amazing how many of the Top Ten are museums or galleries. No fewer than seven fall into this category, which shows that culture is high on the list of London's priorities.
