Sunny Wins Tourism Award
Sunny Crouch has been awarded the Tourism Society Award for 2006.
This is an annual award made to organisations or individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the development of tourism.
I knew Sunny when I was managing a cinema at Havant in Hampshire. She transformed the economy of Portsmouth by intelligent and innovative promotion of tourism.
When she left Portsmouth, she did a similar job for the Docklands area of East London.
Last year Sunny was named Woman of the Year, and in 2006 she was awarded the OBE.
It was Sunny Crouch who once said, and she was right, that the Portsmouth area has more tourist attractions, whether historic or deliberately created, than anywhere else in the country except London.
Sunny commented "Among all the wonderful recognition that I have received for my work in tourism, this means so much to me as it comes frommy friends in the industry".
Well done - it's richly deserved.
