Spring Springs Earlier
Confirmation has been announced that Spring really does come earlier these days.
An extensive survey undertaken by seventeen European countries over the last thirty years has found that this is so.
Spring now starts across Europe, on average, six to eight days earlier than previously. The figure for Britain is ten days.
The survey also shows that Autumn comes a bit later than before. It is in fact three days later on average.
These figures may not sound like much, but there are a lot of knock-on effects in the natural world, involving for example migration and hibernation.
