London: The Biography

A book that should be in the collection of everybody who has an interest in the historical background to London is "London:The Biography".

It is written by the amazing Peter Ackroyd, the London expert who, frankly, knows more about London than I will ever know.

It`s not a history in the normal sense of the word, but a series of articles about a wide diversity of subjects concerning our capital city.

Bridges, churches, crime, entertainment, immigrants, markets, palaces, sport, streets, trades - all of these and many more subjects are dicussed in just the right amount of detail.

If you have not already bought a copy of this admittedly heavy book, it`s about time you did.
