History of Leicester Education
A recent Community History Network meeting that I attended included a talk on the history of education in Leicester.
The talk was by Jalna Edwards, who made the subject very interesting.
The Community History Network is run by Leicester City Council, and meetings are open to anybody who has an interest in local history.
There is always a talk. I have delivered the talk on a couple of occasions. The first time was about Oakham, and the second was at Christmas 2005, when I gave my "Ding Dong Merrily on High" talk about the origins of everybody's favourite Christmas carols.
I will be giving the talk next August.
Apart from the Christmas meeting, when a small charge is made to cover mince pies and wine, it is completely free.
