GTOA Weekend at Telford
My wife Anne and I took part recently in another weekend organised by the Northern branch of the Group Travel Organisers` Association (GTOA). This time it was based at the Park Inn hotel at Telford.
Actually, although it was a two nighter as usual, we could only stay on the Friday night. I had not got around to booking until quite late, by which time the hotel was full on the Saturday night.
On the Friday afternoon we were able to talk to representatives of some of the local attractions before dinner.
Then on the Saturday, we went out on the coach to some fascinating places.
First we visited the RAF Museum at Cosford, which now includes the Cold War Museum. A coffee and cake were very welcome!
Then we went on to Blists Hill, with its recreated Victorian industrial village. Excellent. Here we had fish and chips from a fish and chip shop in the main street.
And from there it was Bridgnorth, to ride on the Severn Valley Railway, one of Britain`s finest steam railways. We made a stop at Highley, to visit the Visitor Centre, where we were also treated to coffee and cake. And then the train took us on to Kidderminster, where we rejoined our coach.
I always thoroughly enjoy these weekends.
